Nov 9 meeting and Kit List for Camp

This week, we are learning all about layering, waterproofing, and packing a highly-efficient and effective camp pack! We are also going to be pre-making a recipe for camp, to enjoy at Olave.

Here is the kit list for Camp Olave:

Remember, we are taking transit from the ferry to camp, and then have to walk about 20 minutes when we get off the bus so you need to be able to carry all of your own gear. A large backpack is much better for this than a suitcase or duffle bag! Please connect with a leader on Wednesday night if you have any questions about this.

Drop Off and Pick Up – Nov 5 Girls ROCK trip to Britannia Mines

Reminder to those that have signed up for Saturday’s Girls ROCK trip to Britannia Mines, drop off at 8 am and pick up at 2:45 pm at Queen Elizabeth Park, at the pitch and putt parking lot, off of 37th Ave. Here is the location:

Please dress warmly and for the weather, including sturdy shoes, rain gear and a toque/hat. Please do not bring an umbrella, as we can’t take these into the mines. Bring a water bottle. Lunch is being provided. Please do not bring any additional food due to allergies.

Looking forward to a fun day on Saturday!

November 2 Meeting

This week, we are doing the last of our camp planning, and preparing for our enrolment ceremony! Come ready to brainstorm, and to do some Canada Cord work.

Tonight is the last chance to bring back forms for camp for you and for any friends that might be interested incoming, so please download and bring them with you this week.

October 26 Meeting

This week, we are doing some festive activities! Come ready to work in the kitchen (make sure you bring a hair tie if you have long hair), and to have some fun!

We have space for a full patrol for the WCA Britannia Mines trip on November 5, so are lowering the price for 9th Pathfinder girls to attend as we’d like to encourage as much participation as possible! Please bring your forms and payment of $20 on Wednesday. You can also use your cookie cash towards this great event.

Lastly, fall camp at Camp Olave forms are available online and due this week. If you have a Pathfinder-aged friend that would like to come to camp, please forward them the link and speak with a leader about additional health information they’ll need to return along with the camp form. The more, the merrier!

Oct 19 Meeting and FORMS ARE DUE!

Tonight, we’re doing some enrolment preparation, talking about Canada Cord, and doing a bridging activity with the Rangers!

Remember, forms for three exciting upcoming activities – the West Coast Area Mad Science Cook Off (Sun Oct 30), the WCA trip to Britannia Mine (Sat Nov 5), and our unit fall camp to Camp Olave (Nov 11 – 13) are all available on the website. Links below.

Mad Science Cook Off and Britannia Mines forms are due tonight as we need to register the patrols today. We need a minimum number of Pathfinders to participate in each of these events in order to register, so if you’ve expressed interest in going, please be sure to bring back your forms tonight!

Oct 12 Meeting and Lots of Upcoming Events!

This Wednesday, we’re doing some camp planning for our upcoming Cozy Fall Camp at Camp Olave. Bring your craft, game, gear, cooking and baking ideas, plus a device you can use for online research! Remember, all planning contributes towards an awesome camp, and as part of your Canada Cord badge work!

Pathfinder-aged friends are welcome to attend camp, so if you have a friend that might be interested in coming, please speak with a Unit Guider for more information!

Remember, payment by unified banking is preferred over cash payment, so please speak with Christa if you have any questions about unified banking.

September 28 Meeting

Tonight, we’re doing a big brainstorm and planning some awesome events and adventures! Think about what kind of skills you’d like to learn, experiences you’d like to have, and activities you’d like to try. Also, think about whether you’re like to work towards your Canada Cord in your Pathfinder journey.

Have a Pathfinder-aged friend that is interested in joining the unit? They are welcome to come try out a meeting! Speak with a Guider for more information.

Lastly, the West Coast Area is planning a trip to Britannia Mines on Saturday November 5. We need to apply as a unit to participate, and would submit forms and payment of $35 per Pathfinder after we are accepted. If you are interested in going to Britannia Mines on November 5, please let Karla know tonight as the call for expressions of interest opens this weekend.

Exploring the GirlsFirst – the Girl Guide Program Platform

As discussed at Pathfinders on Wednesday, this week we would like all Pathfinders to take 15min to try to log in to the GirlsFirst Platform. Go to the web address below and try to login. You might need your iMiss number (which you can request from Karla) to create an account for the first time. Remember, only one account can be created per email address so if you have another person in your family who is also a Girl Guide your account must use a different email address. If you can’t login that’s ok we’ll help you at the next meeting.

https://experience.girlguides.ca/ggc-login

Once you’re in, take a few minutes to click around and explore the activity ideas. You can filter them so only the activities for Pathfinders show up. If you see something that seems fun, try “favoriting” it by clicking the “heart” icon in the bottom corner.

Think about what activities you would like to do this year and bring your ideas (either from your own imagination or from GirlsFirst) to our next Pathfinder meeting!

Welcome to the 2022/2023 Pathfinder year!

We are excited to welcome everyone back for the 2022/2023 Pathfinder year!

Our first meeting of the year is Wednesday September 21 from 6:45 – 8:30 pm at St. Thomas Anglican Church (2444 E 41st Ave in Vancouver).

Come in uniform (if you have one – if not, check out this link for more information). Parents/guardians, please plan to stay for the first ten minutes to meet the leaders and receive some important information about the Pathfinder year.

Take a look at the Calendar of Events, which shares great information about the fun events, activities and meeting plans for the fall, including outings to Britannia Mines, a camp cooking cook-off at Deas Island, and fall camp at Camp Olave (save the dates)!
