IN PERSON: May 19 Meeting – Riverfront walk

Tonight we will explore the trail along the shore of the Fraser River. This trail travels through natural areas, parks and along boardwalks. We will keep our eyes open for birds, seals, log booms and tug boats. 
Dress for the weather and bring along water.
We will meet in the parking lot at Gladstone Riverside Park (2500 East Kent Avenue S) at 6:45. Pick up will be at the same location at 8:30.

IN PERSON: May 12 Meeting – Physical and Social Wellness workshop with ARISE

This week, we are meeting at Trout Lake Park for an awesome physical and social wellness workshop with ARISE. We’ll meet on the south end of the park, near the concession stand, at 6:45 pm. The workshop starts at 7 pm. The best place to enter the park is the parking lot off of 19th Ave & Lakewood St.

About this workshop:

Arise’s mission is to foster inner confidence, resiliency and awareness in young people, through fun, engaging and active workshops.

Arise Programs seeks to teach children and youth that they are worthy of being safe and respected.

Our whole-being approach brings together a unique combination of physical literacy and social-emotional learning. Equipping participants with the physical, emotional and intellectual skills essential to the development of self-confidence, awareness and character.

Through self-defense, mindfulness, role-play games and artful discussion activities, our sessions focus on the exploration of movement, body autonomy, self-confidence and social awareness.

For this meeting, you need to:

  • Wear clothes that you can move in, including yoga or comfy pants, a sweatshirt, running shoes, and a mask
  • Bring a water bottle and yoga mat
  • Have your parent or guardian fill out this online waiver from ARISE before coming to the meeting on Wednesday night

IN PERSON: Mount Pleasant Mural Walking Tour & Photo Scavenger Hunt

We are going to do a self-guided walking tour and photo scavenger hunt of the murals in Mount Pleasant, with some surprises along the way!  

You can download the Mural Festival app in advance of our tour for digital access to the mural information. We will also have hard copies of maps and materials for our outing.

We’re going to meet at Grimmett Park, on 19th Ave, just west of Main Street, at 6:45 pm and walk north through Mount Pleasant.

Pick up is at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre (south end entry/exit, at 8th Ave and Kingsway), at 8:30 pm.

Wear your uniform and a mask, and bring a camera or device that you can take photos with! Remember to do the GGC COVID-19 self assessment prior to coming to the meeting, and please stay home if you’re under the weather. There will also be a surprise treat stop along the way! 😉
