Upcoming Events: Spring Camp and Camp Academy

Just a reminder that we will be planning for our Spring Camp at Stave Lake this week!  If you are interested in coming to camp, please bring your permission forms, Stave Lake waiver, and $30 deposit to our meeting on March 4th.

We are also collecting permission forms for the Southridge District Camp Academy, which is taking place on Saturday April 25th.  There is no cost to attend if you’d like to register as a helper.  The cost to attend as a participant is $12.

Visit the Forms page for more information!

Snowflake Ball and Award Opportunities

Don’t forget that we are hosting the Snowflake Ball this Wednesday for the Sparks & Brownies.  Make sure you arrive at 6:00 to start decorating, and bring the materials for your station.  (Check the list if you can’t remember!)  Pathfinders are encouraged to dress up too!

Also, West Coast Area has released the applications for its awards and bursaries.  Check their website to see if you qualify and to download the application forms.  There are several arts based ones, so if you are involved in dance, figure skating, music lessons, etc make sure you check them out!

Welcome back! First meeting of the new year

This week we’ll be doing a bit of planning for upcoming meetings & outings, and the upcoming Snowflake Ball, with a game or two at the end.

Also, Southridge District is doing a bottle drive to raise funds for future district events – please drop off rinsed, returnable beverage containers at the start of the Pathfinder meeting.

Remember to check our calendar for more information on future meetings, outings and camps!

Holiday Cards for Seniors

This week we will be crafting holiday cards for a local seniors organization–the girls will be making two for giving away and two for keeping themselves. We will also be discussing upcoming events, including our Stanley Park Christmas Train outing.

Please remember to bring your forms and $6.00 for the Christmas Train outing, as well as any remaining cookie money. If you still have cookies left, please let us know how many.

Halloween Party

Get ready for some spooky fun!  Come in your costume, bring whatever you signed up to bring (check the list below if you’re not sure) and make sure you are on time.  The Brownies are expecting us to start leading activities at 7:00 so make sure you are at the church promptly at 6:45!

Here is the list of what everyone signed up to bring (using initials to protect everyone’s privacy)

  • Everyone – clean socks for the game
  • HTL – mini sandwiches, brownies, decorations
  • RT – doritos, Halloween peeps
  • CB – cupcakes
  • SM – donuts, cookies, paper plates for the craft
  • ALH – a sweet snack
  • MH – red punch, decorations
  • IA – cups, bobby pins
  • MCB – plates
  • MS – napkins, decorations
  • HW – a snack of some sort

If you missed the meeting, choose something that no one else is bringing.  We could probably use more salty snacks and drinks!

Preparing for Enrollment & Halloween Party

This week we will be revisiting the Girl Guide promise and law, and form a planning committee for our Enrollment Ceremony. We will also be planning next week’s Halloween party and following up on discussions about summer camp.

If you need more cookies, please e-mail Karla so she can bring them to the meeting. We still a number of cases left, and will also be discussing another possible selling event.

Cookie Selling at Joyce Skytrain

This week we are cookie selling at Joyce Skytrain station.  Meet at 6:30 at the eastern entrance (by the passenger drop-off area) wearing your uniform.  We set a goal to sell 4 cases by 8:00.  If we meet our goal by 8:00 we will go to the coffee shop across the street for hot chocolate, and if we exceed our goal we will have an extra treat!  We’ll finish by 8:30 and parents can pick up in the same place as drop off.

Program work

This week we will have a chill meeting after our super fun red carpet sleepover!

We will look at the “Moneywise” module and plan how to use our cookie profits.  We will also do some brainstorming about camps we would like to do this year and make a plan for lunch at the Apple Farm event.  We’ll also discuss some cookie selling strategies to get ready for our selling date at the Skytrain next week.

If you need more cookies to sell, please email Karla so she can bring them to the meeting.

Grocery Shopping

This week we are going shopping for the food for our sleepover. We will meet at the church at the regular time then walk to Killarney Market, so dress for the weather. We also do a bit more planning to divide up duties at camp.
Cookies go home on Wednesday and we are hoping everyone will take at least one case to sell. Also check the calendar for updated events.
