First meeting of the year!

Hello Pathfinders!

Our first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, September 10th. We will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6:45-8:30pm in the basement of 2444 E 41st Ave (St Thomas Anglican Church, enter through the side door off of St Margarets street). We would like parents to join us for the first 20-30 minutes to hear about the Pathfinder branch, the special awards, scholarships and bursaries available to apply for and our expectations for the year.

After the adults leave, we will spend the rest of the meeting getting to know each other.

Looking forward to it!

Year-end Picnic at Trout Lake

This week, we will celebrate our last meeting of the year with a picnic and scavenger hunt at Trout Lake. We will meet near the picnic shelter at Trout Lake at 6:45 for a fun evening of games, snacks and pizza. Pathfinders should dress appropriately for the weather. Pickup is at 8:30.

Cookie Selling at Napier Square

We will be doing another round of group cookie selling this Wednesday, June 4 at Napier Square (1045 Commercial Drive) from 6:00 – 7:30pm. Pathfinders are expected to come in uniform and dress appropriately for the weather.

First Aid Meeting + Personal Kit List for Camp

This week’s meeting will occur at our regular time and meeting place and will involve games and activities focused on first aid. This meeting will be a great opportunity for Pathfinders pursuing their Canada Cord to fulfill their first aid requirement.

Personal Kit List for Camp

The 9th Vancouver Pathfinders are heading to Camp Olave from May 17 – 19, 2025! We will be spending all weekend outside regardless of the weather. Best to bring layers that you can adjust depending on the weather. Please no cotton as it cannot keep you warm if it gets wet. Our adventure will involve taking a ferry, a bus to/from Camp Olave, and a walk of around 15 – 20 minutes to/from our campsite from the bus stop. Please review the Personal Kit List to ensure all our Pathfinders are well prepared for the weekend.

Bridging Night at David Oppenheimer Elementary School

This week the Pathfinders will facilitate a Bridging Night activity for the Girl Guides. We will meet at David Oppenheimer Elementary School (2421 Scarboro Ave, Vancouver) at 6:10 p.m. and we will finish at 8:20 p.m. The evening’s activities will focus on “Nature Discoveries” and will contribute to the Pathfinder’s program work.

Preparing for bridging event + upcoming cookie sales

This week we will be meeting at the church at our usual time, and our activities will focus on preparing for our bridging night with the Guides later this month.

Next week, on April 23, we will be cookie selling outdoors at the Napier Square (1045 Commercial Drive) from 6:00 – 7:30pm. Pathfinders are expected to come in uniform and dress appropriately for the weather.

Spring Break

As a reminder, there will be no meeting on March 19 and March 26 for Spring Break. We look forward to seeing everyone at our regular meeting time and place on April 2.

Cookies are here!

The Guiders picked up our spring Girl Guide cookies this weekend. Our unit has 45 cases to sell.

On Wednesday, we will be sending each Pathfinder home with two cases of cookies. If your Pathfinder is interested in selling more, just let us know. These are the classic chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies.

Cookies are $6/box and Pathfinders get a portion of the sales in their “cookie cash” account that can be used towards unit activities – like fees for camp or other outings.

And speaking of camp, we have a reservation at Camp Olave for the May long weekend. The plan is to leave Saturday, May 17, arriving home on Monday, May 19. We will get forms to you soon.

Cheers,

Amanda, Christa, and Tasha

Bottle drive this week

At this week’s meeting, we will be decorating tote bags – an activity led by one of our third-year pathfinders!

As a reminder, we are currently conducting a bottle drive. Pathfinders are encouraged to bring clean, dry refundable cans and bottles in clear plastic bags to this meeting. Bags were distributed to the Pathfinders at a previous meeting.
