April 3 Meeting – Managing Stress

As we return to school from Spring Break and everything starts to get busy again, we will spend this meeting exploring ways to manage stress and relax.

If you have a journal you like to write in please bring it along as we will be doing some writing activities. Also, if you have a colouring book or other relaxing craft that you enjoy feel free to bring that as well.

Please enter through the downstairs patio doors as the church is having a service upstairs. Also, cookies will be available for pickup from 8:15 onwards, plan to take your cases today if you haven’t already got them!

First Meeting of 2019

We hope everyone had a fun and festive holiday season and is ready for Pathfinders.  The leaders are all excited, we’ve got some really fun events lined up over the next few months.

We will be doing lots of planning at our meeting on Wednesday, January 9.  Third years will be planning several meetings to complete important work towards the Canada Cord, so bring your old program books, and let a leader know if you cannot attend the meeting on Wednesday.

Also, we’re heading to the West Coast Area Girls Can Do It! International Women’s Day event on Saturday March 9!

The WCA will be hosting a fun fair of cool things to explore, from basic displays to elaborate interactive demos. Beyond brochures and trifold boards, girls will try new skills in hands-on ways. With hundreds of Girl Guide friends, come explore booths from local businesses, professionals, and organizations, who are contributing their time and enthusiasm. Girls will explore the tables/displays at their leisure throughout the afternoon. There will be a variety of activities set up, with interesting people to talk to, demos to try, swag to take home, and more.

Want to attend? Bring your SG2 form and $5 back no later than Wednesday January 30. Speak with a leader if you’d like to use your cookie cash towards this fun and interactive event!

Girls First Program

While we’ve got lots of fun events going on in the next couple weeks, we would like Pathfinders to also take some time to explore the new Girls First program.  This year is a transition year, so we will be doing some activities from the old program and some from the new.

Each Pathfinder needs their own an account – to register online you will need a unique email address and your IMIS number.  Talk to one of the leaders if you don’t know your IMIS number or if you need any help getting started.

Register, log in, and take a look around, there are some great activities to inspire you!  Enter something in the “My Interests” section on your profile page, so the leaders know you’ve successfully logged in.

This week…

We are continuing with our camp planning and preparation this week.  We’ll also check in to see how everyone’s cookie sales are going.  Please bring in money for the cases you have sold.

If you haven’t brought back camp or kayaking forms yet, this is your last chance!

Also, for the Pathfinders coming to Newcastle Island on the long weekend, please review the Kit List and meal planning documents below. We’ll be working with these on Wednesday night.

Snowshoeing on Sunday

We are heading to Mount Seymour this Sunday for a fun hike on the Dog Mountain Trail!  We will meet at the trailhead at 9:00 am, pickup is at 2:00 pm.  It looks like it will be sunny but chilly, so dress appropriately.

Don’t forget

  • layered clothing, including hat and mittens/gloves
  • snowshoes (if you are bringing your own)
  • lunch
  • 2L water
  • mug for hot chocolate

Calling all Creators!

Hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer!

Just wanted to let you know of an opportunity that we’ve come across that you might be interested in.  A few local businesses (mostly owned by women, yay!) are having a pop up shop September 15-17, and are opening up space to youth vendors.  I know we’ve got lots of crafty girls in Guiding, so consider applying if you’ve made something you want to sell.  You can even share a table with a friend (make sure you both fill out the application form).   You could sell your own art, jewellry, baking… just about anything you’ve created!  Application deadline is September 5th so make sure you get your application form in soon if you are interested.

We look forward to seeing you all at our first meeting on September 13!

February 8 Meeting CANCELLED

Tonight’s meeting will be cancelled due to the winter storm warning.  No need for anyone to drive if they don’t have to.  Hope you are all safe and warm tonight!

Stay tuned for updates about next week’s special guests. Note that we’re starting at 6:30 pm on Feb 15.
