At our meeting on January 12, we decided on three service projects we’re going to do as a unit this year:
- Collect personal care items and donate to a local agency that supports women or families (personal care products can include new, unused hotel or commercial sized toiletries in their original packaging: lotion, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, razors, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunscreen, make-up, hair products/appliances, and assorted beauty supplies)
- Collect used books and donate to a local agency that distributes books to people in need (books could include fiction or non-fiction, books for children or adults)
- Collect bottles and cans that have a deposit, return them, and donate the fund to the Canadian World Friendship Fund to support Guiding in other parts of the world. (Check out this website for information about all of the different types of containers that have deposits on them! Rinse before storing to avoid smelly, sticky situations)
Please start gathering up the items above, as we’ll bring all of our items for donation together when we reconvene as a group in a few weeks.
