DESCRIPTION:Come join the Girl Guides of Canada – West Coast Area Council for a celebration of International Women’s Day and all the amazing challenges that women tackle every day. All ages are welcome\, though the event will be most suitable for older girls and those of Brownie age and up. \nWe will be hosting a fun fair of cool things to explore\, from basic displays to elaborate interactive demos. Beyond brochures and trifold boards\, we want to get girls trying new skills in hands-on ways. With hundreds of Girl Guide friends\, come explore booths from local businesses\, professionals\, and organizations\, who are contributing their time and enthusiasm. Girls will explore the tables/displays at their leisure throughout the afternoon. There will be a variety of activities set up\, with interesting people to talk to\, demos to try\, swag to take home\, and more. \nThe event costs $5 to attend. SUMMARY:Kayak Training Course with EcoMarine Paddlesport
DESCRIPTION:We’re doing an amazing kayaking training course with EcoMarine Adventures! \nOver this two-day course\, Pathfinders will learn the essential kayaking skills needed for a great water-sport adventure. On the water we focus on skills such as boat handling\, launching\, landing and balancing. Once comfortable in the kayak you will learn how to safely exit your kayak in the event of a capsize\, how to get back in with the help of a partner and how to get back in on your own. Pathfinders will earn the Paddle Canada Basic Kayak certification upon completion. \nThe course is 9:00 am – 2:30 pm each day\, so we’ll meet at the beach at 8:30 am. Bring a lunch and lots of water with you each day. There is secure storage and coin operated showers at the Jericho Sailing Centre. See the attached forms for more information. \nEcoMarine says… What to bring: \n\nClothing material should ideally be quick drying synthetic\, nylon or wool (no cotton).\nPlease wear comfortable clothing you can move in.\nWear shorts or capris as you may get wet up to your knees launcing the kayak.\nFor Paddle Canada programs please bring a bathing suit for under a wetsuit & towel.\nPrograms run rain or shine so please bring sweater\, jacket or rain jacket.\nA full change of clothes. DESCRIPTION:It’s a tried and true favourite! We’re heading to Taves Apple Farm in the Fraser Valley for a day of fall fun\, fruit and friends. \nAs a district\, we will take chartered buses to the Taves Family Farms Applebarn in Abbotsford\, BC. There the girls will have from 10am to 4 pm to explore the farm. Activities include petting zoo\, apple cider factory tour\, bouncy pillow and more. SUMMARY:Southridge District Thinking Day Bowl-a-thon
DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all! On Sunday\, February 19th\, Southridge District will be celebrating Thinking Day by holding a Bowl-a-Thon. Pledge proceeds will be donated to the Canadian World Friendship Fund. Please note that pledges can be a flat rate (easier to collect) or a per pin rate (more exciting\, but a bit harder to collect because you need to go back to the pledgor.) \nWe will be heading to Old Orchard Bowling Lanes\, which is a 5 pin facility with 16 lanes\, 5 with bumpers. The cost of this event will be $8 per bowler\, and includes one game\, shoe rental\, cake\, juice and a crest. \nWe’re bowling at 2:30 pm\, so arrive at 2:00 to make sure you have time to get your shoes etc.!  Uniforms are a must at this event! \nForms and payment of $8 are due no later than Wednesday January 25th.  \n\nBowling SG1\nBowling SG2\nBowl pledge sheet
