DESCRIPTION:We’re heading to Stanley Park for our springtime service project\, which will be a fun and interactive opportunity to support ecological resilience in Stanley Park! \nThe Stanley Park Ecology Society will be leading us in a private stewardship event where we will learn about invasive species and the local ecology of Stanley Park.  We will be active environmental stewards as we work to remove invasive species and create valuable habitat for native wildlife. \nWhen:  Saturday\, May 4th from 10:00am to 1:00pm – please arrive on time or a few minutes early! \nWhere:  Nature House on Lost Lagoon – 712 Lost Lagoon Path\, Stanley Park (Please note that parking is limited in this area\, so ensure you leave yourself enough time to find parking and walk to the Nature House). \nWhat to wear:  Weather appropriate clothing\, solid outdoor footwear\, and long sleeves/pants (Many invasive species have thorns\, and some people experience a mild reaction to species such as English ivy). \nWhat to bring:  Water and a light snack in a small backpack.  Stanley Park Ecology Society will provide us with any tools or equipment needed for the event. \nForms:  SG1 / SG2 – due no later than Wednesday\, May 1st.

DESCRIPTION:Come join the Girl Guides of Canada – West Coast Area Council for a celebration of International Women’s Day and all the amazing challenges that women tackle every day. All ages are welcome\, though the event will be most suitable for older girls and those of Brownie age and up. \nWe will be hosting a fun fair of cool things to explore\, from basic displays to elaborate interactive demos. Beyond brochures and trifold boards\, we want to get girls trying new skills in hands-on ways. With hundreds of Girl Guide friends\, come explore booths from local businesses\, professionals\, and organizations\, who are contributing their time and enthusiasm. Girls will explore the tables/displays at their leisure throughout the afternoon. There will be a variety of activities set up\, with interesting people to talk to\, demos to try\, swag to take home\, and more. \nThe event costs $5 to attend. SUMMARY:Mount Seymour Snowshoe
DESCRIPTION:Camp has been cancelled\, so we’re going snowshoeing instead!  We’ll finish off our Winter Camp Challenge crest\, enjoy a picnic together on the trails\, and practice our snowshoe skills on the 6 km Dog Mountain trail. \nWe’ll meet at the west (far) end of the Mount Seymour parking lot (top of the mountain)\, near the signs for the BC Parks trails.  See the attached SG1 and SG2 for more details. \nThere is no cost to attend. Dress for the weather (non-cotton layers\, snowpants\, waterproof jacket\, waterproof shoes or boots\, toque and gloves) and bring a daypack with 2L water\, an empty travel mug for a warm beverage\, and your personal first aid kit.
